Form of Transition is a series of ceramics by Northland-based artist Julie Cromwell. Her work continues to explore how vessels represent their physical form, as well as embody the intangible qualities such as spatial, sensual and ethereal. While acknowledging the lineage and historical aspects of her chosen medium, the artist created a series of amphorae made in her own interpretation and expertise. Synonymous with the transportation of wine and oils in ancient civilizations, the amphorae embody dual physicalities - while delicate and fragile in form, the vessels also allow for contemplation of their age-old permanence and utilisation.
