Amie Redpath’s instinct for rock began as a child collecting fossils in Te Waewae Bay on the southern coast of Aotearoa.
Amie and her family have been living in the stunning volcanic landscape of Whangarei Heads for about 5 years and enjoying wonders of coastal living. She has always found strength in the great outdoors and connects her passions of art, nature and cuisine to create unique works from stone.
Amie is motivated and inspired by nature: the beach, the ocean, the elements. She loves selecting a rock and an idea to see how she can fuse the two. The mix of rough natural surfaces with those she creates through smooth flowing lines and curves is essential to her work.
Amie works primarily with stone, keeping her pieces authentic, sustainable and eco-driven. She believes in the longevity of a piece: high quality in terms of workmanship, detail, the hardness and beauty of the stone to create simple designs that can be treasured over generations.
